October 2012

Work on the Robertson Sewerage Scheme is drawing to a close with construction expected to be complete by late December. 

  • Gravity pipe laying around town is now complete - with the exception of one outstanding bore in the Caalong Creek area. Testing is continuing.
  • Installation of houselhold lines and pressure sewerage tanks is almost complete - with 104 of the 107 tanks installed. Electrical teams are now making their way around to residences in this area to connect power to the tanks.
  • The storage dam at Sheepwash Road is well underway, with the dam walls constructed and the lining due to be installed early next month.

July 2012

Work has been progressing well, with gravity pipe laying around town now almost complete. Testing is continuing in South and Arney streets and there are a few more underbores to be completed in the Caalong Creek area.

  • Installation of household lines and pressure sewerage tanks is well underway with Old Road and Mackeys Lane installed and electrical works to follow shortly. Work has now started in Fountaindale Rd, Lawn Ave and Vaughan Ave.
  • The 14.7 km effluent transfer main, running from the Sewerage Treatment Plant to the river is now complete and testing is underway.

 

May 2012

Work has been progressing well on many fronts thanks to the recent good weather. Gravity pipe laying around town is now about 90% complete and pressure pipe laying in public streets is now 100% complete, with on-property works now well underway. 

  • the final 10% of gravity pipe laying will be undertaken on Burrawang St (west), parts of Caalong Street, part of High Street, parts of Hoddle St and the end of Devonshire Street
  • pressure sewerage tanks are beign installed on The Old Road and Mackeys Lane
  • the main treatment tank at theSTP is now 50% complete
  • power has been connected to the pump station site
  • work is well underway at the dam on Sheepwash Road
  • ongoing landholder discussions
  • ongoing restoration work

 

April 2012

Good progress occured on several elements of the scheme, including work in the gravity and pressure sewerage areas, as well as on the new sewerage treatment plant. About 80% of the gravity sewer pipes are now complete. 

  • gravity pipe laying in Armstrong Crescent, South Street, Caalong Street, High Street, Main Street, May Street and Devonshire Street
  • first underbore pit dug to cross the western end of Illawarra Highway
  • property drainage pipes laid in pressure areas of Mackeys Lane, Ranelagh Street and Vaughan Avenue
  • back-up storage tank for the new pump station now complete 
  • base laid for the treatment tanks at the new sewerage treatment plant site
  • ongoing landholder discussions
  • community information event held at Robertson Community Centre
  • ongoing restoration work
  • ongoing work on the new transfer pipe leading out of Robertson is 90% conmplete

 

March 2012

Ongoing work continued on all elements of the scheme, including further work on the pressure sewerage areas and about 70% of pipe laying in gravity areas now complete.

  • gravity pipe laying in North Street, May Street, Charlotte Street, Armstrong Crescent, Wallangundra Street, Caalong Street, High Street and Devonshire Street
  • pressure areas residents informed of up-coming work on private properties
  • first property installations for pressure areas in The Old Road and Mackeys Lane
  • continued work on the back-up tank for the new pump station off Burrawang Street
  • continued groundworks for the new sewerage treatment plant site (see photo)

February 2012

Heavy rain caused some delays to project schedules ths month however work still continued on several elements of the scheme. This includes the following activities:may street

  • ongoing work on the back-up tank for the pump station
  • gravity pipe laying in North Street, May Street, Victor Crescent, Charlotte Street and Wallangunda Street
  • successful pressure testing for recently laid gravity pipes
  • about 80% of work complete on the transfer main linking Robertson to Glenquarry
  • groundworks begun on the new sewerage treatment plant off the western end of May Street
  • ongoing landholder discussions
  • ongoing restoration work

 

January 2012

Work resumed in the new year with seven pipe laying crews working at different sites in the gravity area around the town. Overall progress continued as follows:   pump station site

  • ongoing work on the back-up tank for the pump station
  • almost 60% of the gravity pipe area now complete with pipe laying continuing in Hoddle Street, May Street, North Street, South Street, Charlotte Street and Potters Lane
  • about 75% of work complete on the transfer main linking Robertson to Glenquarry through the rail corridor
  • ongoing landholder discussions
  • ongoing restoration work

 

 

December 2011

Progress continued around the area including work on the following:potters lane

  • ongoing construction of the back-up tank for the pump station off Burrawang Street
  • pressure sewer mains pipes laid in all accessible areas in Fountaindale Road, Lawn Avenue, Vaughan Avenue, Missingham Parade and Ranelagh Avenue
  • gravity pipes continue to be laid in parts of Hoddle Street, Burrawang Street, North Street, May Street, and Caalong Street, as well as in Hanrahan Place and West Street
  • ongong landholder discussions
  • ongoing work on the 14.7km transfer main along the rail corridor to Glenquarry
  • ongoing restoration work

 

 

November 2011

Progress continued on a number of fronts with activties including the following:pressure sewer pipe laying

  • work begins on the new pump station site off Burrawang Street
  • approval sought from relevant government agencies for the STP structural designs
  • the first pressure sewer pipes are laid in The Old Road and Mackeys Lane
  • gravity pipes are laid around Barrengarry Street, May Street, Shackleton Street, Hoddle Street and surrounding areas
  • ongoing landholder discussions
  • land restoration work

 

October 2011

More than 25% of the gravity pipe network has now been laid around the village. Work also progressed on other elements of the scheme. Activities included:

  • ongoing work to lay gravity pipes around town with five crews now operating concurrently
  • land restoration along pipeline routes
  • ongoing landholder discussions and notifications
  • detailed structural designs for the new sewerage treatment plant lodged with Wingecarribee Shire Council and made available for public comment
  • no public comments received by Council on the STP designs by the due date
  • plans to start work on the new pump station site off Burrawang Street
  • ongong work on the mains pipe through the rail corridor

 

September 2011

Construction is ongoing around the village and landholder liaison also continued. Activities included the following:

  • a second commmuity information event to give residents an update of project progress
  • notifications and landholder discussions
  • additional survey work where needed
  • further sewer mains pipes laid around North Street, May Street, Hampden Park and surrounding areas
  • land restoration once sewer pipes are laid
  • ongoing work on the 14.7km mains pipe through the rail corridor

 

August 2011

Construction continued around the village with several crews working concurrently at different sites. Ongoing landholder liaison also continued. Activities included the following:

  • Further notifications and landholder discussions
  • Ongoing survey work to confirm the pipe depths and alignments
  • Ongoing potholing activities to identify underground services such as existing water pipes and telecommunications cables
  • Sewer mains pipes laid in areas around South Street, Caalong Street, May Street and related areas
  • Starting construction of the mains pipe within the rail corridor (for when the highly treated effluent is transferred to Glenquarry)

 

July 2011

Survey and construction work began on the scheme during July, as well as ongoing liaison with local landholders. Activities included the following elements:

  • Notifications to residents and landholder discussions ahead of the construction schedule
  • Surveying along the pipeline route around Robertson
  • Potholing to determine where underground utilities are located (such as water pipes and telecommunication cables)
  • Starting construction of the pipe network on public land behind Shackleton Street
  • Starting construction of the pipe network along South Street
  • Engaging local sub-contractors for the new irrigation storage reservoir at Glenquarry

 

June 2011

Work continued on the preparatory phases of the project, including design elements, and community liaison work. Activities included the following elements:

  • Holding a Community Information Session on 4 June 2011
  • Liaising with affected residents on the detailed layout of the pressure sewerage pipe network
  • Liaising with residents in the gravity sewer areas
  • Engaging sub-contractors ready for the gravity sewerage pipe network
  • Finalising the detailed design for the new pump station
  • Working through detailed design issues for the sewerage treatment plant

 

May 2011

Soon after being awarded the design and construction contract for the project, AJ Lucas began work on the preparatory stages of the scheme. These included the following:

  • Establishing a site office off Yarranga Street, Robertson
  • Establishing community contact channels such as a new project telephone number, email address and website
  • Working through detailed design issues for the sewerage treatment plant and pump station in accordance with the awarded contract
  • Liaising with sub-contractors, Pressure Sewer Solutions, in relation to requirements for the pressure sewer system
